Are you drinking your calories? It's not uncommon for a person to suck down what should be 3/4 of their needed calories for the day. This is one reason we have overweight people. Don't fall into this trap! Here's 5 ways to eliminate them.

1. Skip fruit juice in the morning.

2.Opt for veggie juice or none.

3. Tea instead of coffee, and no foo foo drinks! They are loaded with sugar.

. 5. Clear cocktails 🍸instead of wine.

And don't forgot to drink more water!

5 reasons to turn off the TV

Most people watch TV daily, sometimes for hours. There more problems to it than you might think!

1.    It causes low back pain. Well, actually it is sitting that causes low back pain but most people are sitting while they watch TV.  Prolonged sitting causes shortening of the muscles in the hip flexors which then cause tightening on the low back muscles.
2.    It promotes obesity. The Harvard School of Public Health cites studies directly linking TV watching to obesity. Every minute sitting idle is a minute of movement lost. Moving your body in any way burns calories to some degree. So the more you move, the more likely you are to be at a healthy body weight. It doesn't help to be watching food commercials either!
3.    It reduces quality time with friends, family or loved ones. Every minute watching television is time that could be spent having fun, bonding and talking with your peeps. Don't waste time staring at the idiot box.  Turn it off and call or meet a friend.
4.    TV makes you unhappy with your accomplishments. According to the Journal for Economic Psychology, people see things on TV that make them feel the need to acquire more material possessions, and this causes anxiety over how to attain it. Turning the TV off gives you time to appreciate what you have.
5.    TV can cause cellular damage to your body. Every electronic device, including televisions, emit carcinogenic radiation. You can read more about electromagnetic fields on the World Health Organization’s sitewww.WHO.int

5 reasons to get on your bike

Last week my car was in for repairs all week, so I was reacquainted with walking and biking for transportation. I forgot how much I loved doing this!! If your lucky enough to be able to walk to places you want to go, do it! If it's just a little further, get that bike out!  Biking is awesome because.. 1. It burns a ton if calories using quads and glutes.

2. Gives you a great booty.

 3. Is Earth Friendly

 4. Reduces stress (both because it's fun exercise and no stress over parking and traffic)

 5. Saves you money!  Plus you can put stuff in the cool little basket if you have one  Enjoy Sunmer while it lasts!

Make fitness a way of life.

Do you have to drag yourself to the gym to exercise each day? Whoever decided that's the best place to exercise anyway?? Workouts don't have to be in the gym. Just keep moving, be active, and turn off the TV!  Anything is better than sitting, but exercise can be anything that moves your body. Walking, cleaning, jogging, surfing, chasing kids, building sand castles, hiking trails, planting flowers... Get creative, and get out of thd gym.

Set your thoughts to your body goal!

Whatever it is you want for your body, believe it will happen. KNOW it will happen. Set your intention and your mind will follow the course.  Attitude is everything, and sometimes is hard to pull your mind out of that low place once your there, but be your own cheerleader, do something that feels good, get outside, and find those positive thoughts.

New Meaning of "grounding" practice!

Did my morning practice here today. #nofilter just beautiful! Yoga can be simple stretches along with deep breathing or #pranayama which cleans the lungs and body, calming the mind. If you can do it barefoot connected to the earth you will get the added benefit of feel good negative ions. Move, breath, get outside. Amazing benefits await.

The Healing Magic Of Tea

Are you still drinking coffee for your morning (or afternoon) boost?? Coffee can be really tough on the stomach and is very acidic. Try trading one cup for tea each day. So many health benefits of tea!! Green tea is tho most researched, but all teas including Yerba maté and Rooibos are awesome for your health!

BYOS! Bring Your Own Sweetener..

Recognize this view? Why do coffee shops sell drinks without a natural sweetener??!! I just don't get it! Artificial sweeteners look unassuming, but they pose serious risks to health, and it doesn't take much! Risks include cancer, atherosclerosis, Type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome and heart disease to name a few. Even the Harvard School of Public health cautions users of artificial sweeteners, especially kids, saying long term effects are simply unknown. So, untill coffee shops get their act together, bring your own. Follow me here for daily health tips and Inspo!
